Joel Robuchon – Singapore’s only 3-Michelin-star restaurant

Beyond glass doors lies a luxuriously furnished dining room, crowned with a chandelier. A trolley, laden with a range of beautiful loaves and buns, greets you at the entrance, along with staff ever-ready with a smile.

A complete surprise was my birthday meal at Joel Robuchon.

Jaan at Swissotel, revisited

Had another satisfying gastronomic experience at Jaan at level 70 of Swissotel The Stamford earlier this month – except this time, the modern French restaurant now has one Michelin star (I expected it to have two stars like Odette as I enjoyed my experience here a lot more, but I guess food is divisive and subjective).

The Knolls at Capella, Sentosa

My sister, with her evil plans to fatten me up, surprised me with one of the most awesome buffets on my birthday. I confess I thoroughly enjoyed growing fatter over the two-and-a-half hours.

The Knolls at Capella has a Sunday brunch buffet (from $128++), with options for alcohol such as champagne, beer and cocktails, but we’re not drinkers (unless you count copious amounts of bubble tea). We opted for the non-alcohol option, which comes with a free flow of mocktails, soft drinks and fresh juices.
