Dean & DeLuca is a New York cafe and store that opened in Singapore in 2012 and it has three outlets here – in Orchard Central, Far East Square and HillV2 – serving all-day breakfast and stocking gourmet treats from overseas. It was my first time visiting the smaller HillV2 outlet, which opened last year, and I was excited to find granola from Brooklyn’s Early Bird Foods & Co!
At $17.50, it is slightly pricey, but I can’t believe I didn’t need to import the granola myself 🙂 I got the Farmhand’s Choice, which was stuffed with coconut flakes, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds, although it was kind of short on pecans. It was a too sweet and crisp for me, but it was awesome getting to try such a popular granola brand!
We ordered a prawn aglio olio truffle scented pasta ($20) from the weekend special menu, chef’s nicoise salmon salad ($15), mango lassi ($8), iced Americano ($5.50) and a lemon pound cake ($4).
The aglio olio did not have any hint of truffle and was cooked with onions, so it did not taste like the usual aglio olio. However, the prawns were of a fair size, juicy and cooked just right.
The salmon nicoise salad had a generous serving of smoked salmon and greens. Worth the money and delicious to boot. The iced Americano was smooth and not bitter, and the mango lassi was thick and sweet.
The lemon pound cake had a strong, tangy lemon icing which complemented it perfectly. The cake alone was a little dry though.
Return? Yes! I need to stay far away from the chocolate rack though.
