Wanted to eat something healthy as usual and remembered the good reviews for the congee at Mak’s Noodle! There’s both indoor and outdoor seating at the Westgate outlet.
The staff are extremely on the ball. I was waiting for my companions for about 10 minutes and was asked four times if I was ready to order. The food is also served within minutes.
We ordered a Fish Congee ($7.50), Tossed Noodle with Beef Brisket ($9), Tossed Noodle with Prawns and Dried Shrimp Roe ($16.20) and Seasonal Vegetables in Oyster Sauce ($5.90).
Everything arrived one after the other in minutes.
The Tossed Noodle with Beef Brisket (above, $9). The noodles are thinner than the usual thin egg noodles in Singapore, and are springy with flavour.
We found the Tossed Noodle with Prawns and Dried Shrimp Roe (above, $16.20) overpriced though.
The Fish Congee (above, $7.50) is silky smooth, rich and not watery. The amount of fish is rather generous too.
The Seasonal Vegetables in Oyster Sauce (above, $5.90) is served with the oyster sauce on the side, so those who prefer less sauce would enjoy it.
Return? Yes, for the porridge! Certain items are too pricey.
