Teochew Cuisine Restaurant is nestled under a HDB block in Bukit Batok. It isn’t very centrally located, yet it’s open 24 hours and sells delicacies such as abalone and fish maw.
We ordered a $140 set (for three to four people) and added more dishes as we were in a group of eight.
The set comes with a Teochew Braised Combo, Steamed Garoupa, Teochew Imperial Pot, Fried Prawn with Chives and Yam Paste with Gingko Nuts.
The standouts were the Sliced Fish Porridge and Teochew Sweet Dish. The Steamed Garoupa, Teochew Imperial Pot and Teochew Braised Combo were decent, while the Radish Fried Kway Teow and Teochew Crab Porridge were bland. There are some hits and misses and the dishes be pricey, but if you’re in the area, the Sliced Fish Porridge (or Sliced Fish Soup if you don’t want carbs) is rather delicious and value for money for around $5.
